Woman by the Well

"Woman by the Well," is an homage from the activist to his wife. The female character holds the lead role in the struggle for redemption. The activist is thought to be the main source of strength. But, it is through his identification with humanity that the activist finds the greatest strength through his weakness.
Just when he is beaten down and facing dire opposition from the company, the miner draws parallels from his wife to the biblical "Woman by the Well," and celebrates her humanity.
When I look into your eyes,
I see such strength.
I watch you go down to the well,
To get us a drink.
You never let us thirst.
No, you never let us thirst.
Tomorrow’s a big day.
But let me tell you this,
I love you today.
No matter what happens, anyway.
Out there, you’re my one, true love.
Out there, you’re my one, true love.
Chorus
Woman by the well, oooh, bring me water.
Woman by the well, oooh, quench my thirst.
I’m just like you.
Have faith, the last will be first.
Just like you.
Just like you.
Deep in my heart,
I know what is right.
What tears you down,
Can only make you stronger.
In the end, it will bring you healing.
In the end, it will bring you strength.
